At DC, we receive many questions, and we believe there are no silly inquiries! Here are some of the most common questions we get, along with detailed answers to help you plan your adventure.
Can We Bring Our Dog?
Yes! We welcome well-behaved pups in all our Land Rovers. Just remember to bring plenty of blankets to cover the seats and internal areas where they may be. Dogs and Defenders go so well together.
Which of Your Vehicles is the Best?
This question is a bit like asking someone who their favourite child is. Each vehicle has its unique strengths. The best choice largely depends on how many adventurers are travelling and the time of year you are going. It’s best to chat with Dan or Leanne. Let them know how many of you there are and where you are heading. They will recommend the best vehicle for your needs.
What Roof Tents Do You Recommend?
We recommend iKamper roof tents. They are easy to set up and take down, even for beginners. In just one minute, you can be ready to go! These tents can comfortably sleep four people, making them ideal for families without needing extra tents.
Don't be fooled by others with 'soft shell' tents. They can be challenging to use, especially for beginners. iKampers may not be the cheapest option, but they are by far the best on the market. Our ethos is simple: "Park up with a gin and tonic in hand in five minutes, everything set up." This level of convenience can only be achieved with a quality hard shell tent.
Before buying a roof tent, we recommend testing a few out. They may seem like a great idea, but consider your winter storage needs and the impact on fuel efficiency if you leave it on your car all year. Think about how often you’ll use it and whether it’s worth getting new, second-hand, or renting.
Can We Leave Our Car with You?
Absolutely! We have plenty of space for cars to be left safely with us. You can enjoy your adventure without worrying about your vehicle.
Can We Pick Up Early?
We do what we can. The standard pick-up time is 3 PM, which is the best guaranteed time we can offer. Often, we can get you out and about earlier, but we can't guarantee it, as it depends on availability. We can offer a guaranteed morning pick-up, subject to availability, but we do have to charge a half-day fee since we must take the vehicle off booking the night before.
Can We Drop Off Later?
Once again, we do what we can! The standard drop-off time is 11 AM. If a vehicle is not booked, and we have availability, we like to let people use them as long as possible. We can offer a guaranteed later drop-off, subject to availability, but we do have to charge a half-day fee for the same reason as above.
Which Vehicle is Your Favourite?
Come on! See the previous question. We have many repeat customers who enjoy trying different vehicles, and everyone has a favourite. However, no one is allowed to say.
What Do I Need to Bring?
We provide everything you need and more. You just need to bring clothes, food, and your adventurous spirit!
We're Under 25, Can You Insure Us?
Yes, we can insure drivers under 25, but there will be an additional charge on the insurance. Contact Dan if this applies to you, and he will sort out what he can for you.
What is the Best Campsite?
We have many campsites we recommend, each with its unique strengths. Personally, we love Poolbridge for its complete lack of phone signal. It’s perfect for a few days off-grid, allowing you to relax and detox.
Can I Arrive Early and Wait?
You can arrive early, but we recommend grabbing lunch or stopping at Sheppy's Cider Farm, which is less than a mile from DC central. They offer great food, amazing cider, and you can even take a tour through their orchards.
Conclusion
We hope this guide answers your questions and helps you prepare for an unforgettable adventure with DC. Whether you're bringing your dog, choosing the right vehicle, or finding the best campsite, we're here to assist you every step of the way. Enjoy your journey!
